The brief was to communicate a large, technically ambitious and emotionally charged proposal in a single film — one that needed to work for public audiences, stakeholders and media alike.

The scheme combined tidal energy generation with a much broader regeneration vision: mariculture, sport and leisure, public art, education and a new visitor centre. The film had to do justice to the engineering while also conveying the wider social and environmental ambition — without losing clarity or momentum across a five-minute running time.

We developed the script and storyboard to move audiences from the big idea — the UK's untapped tidal energy potential — through to the specifics of Swansea Bay: causeway construction, turbine operation, and the public and ecological benefits the lagoon would bring. The narrative was carefully structured to balance technical credibility with warmth and ambition, opening with Welsh poetry and closing with a clear statement of long-term vision.

The resulting film played a central role in the project's public communications during its high-profile campaign and consent phase, helping build awareness and support for what remains the only tidal range project to have received planning consent in the UK.
