Growth Market: Student Accomodation – New PropertyWeek.com Conference 01/12/2011
Highlighting a growing movement by traditonal resi developers towards student accomodation, the program has now been confirmed for this perhaps one-off, perhaps first-of-many conference taking place on the 1 December 2011 at the Lancaster London hotel.
Organised by Property Week and in association with Collegiate and CRM, Student Accommodation 2011 is ‘an authoritative one day conference where you can learn, evaluate market performance and network with your peers.’
When we looked recently at the growing number of structured, managed student accomodation projects coming to market, it was clear that an already bouyant market was expecting to see large (if not spectacular) growth following the change of situation for UK Universities when tuition fees start to appear on their balance sheets.
Estates and Development Managers have been formulating strategies around this change in financial circumstances, whilst also acknowledging that students will want to see better accomodation and facilities for their money. A major battle to secure wealthier students from around the world will clearly be fought on how great your digs are…
Panellists include:
Julian S Robinson, director of estates, London School of Economics & Political Science
Patrick Finch, bursar and director of estates, Bristol University
Michael Brodtman, executive director – evaluation and advisory services, CBRE
Mark Allan, chief executive, The UNITE Group
John Kenny, chief operating officer, Liberty Living plc
Mark Bladon, structured property finance, Investec Specialist Private Bank
Bob Crompton, chief executive officer, Knightsbridge Student Housing
Ian Woosey, business development director, Balfour Beatty Capital
and Bill Soper, principal director, TP Bennett
It’s not a cheapy but I’m fairly convinced it’ll be a goody if student accomodation is a market you’re into – or think you should be.
